Ötztal
Hiking with a glacier view
The Nature Park Ötztal was extended in 2009 and now ranges as a network of protected areas above 3.000 meters sea level (774 - 3.768 m) and an area of 510 km2 - as a result a great natural diversity throughout the landscape can be found. The scenery is characterised by imposing glaciers and typical alpine flora and fauna.
From the highest summits of the East alps snouts of glaciers are ranging into the valley. Below them moraines, glacier reeds and extended glacier forefronts including all stages of plant and animal resettlement are to find.
Additionally to discover are fens, juicy mountain meadows and subalpine larch and Swiss stone pine woods. Idyllic lakes invite for staying.
