Mühlviertel
Stones from gods hands in a hilly land
The Nature Park Mühlviertel, in the northeast of Upper Austria, which was formerly known as Rechberg, has now been extended by three more communes. It really can be called “stone rich”, because it is marked by characteristic stone block meadows and striking rock formations, such as the Schwammerling, a real “Wackelstein”(wobbling stone) and the landmark of Rechberg. This hilly landscape also offers other interesting biotopes - from nutrient poor meadows to lowland moors.
