About 40 participants of the internationally visited conference with representatives from six nations were welcomed by DI Günter Jaritz (Nature Conservation Department, Salzburg Government) and Mayor Josef Michael Hohenwarter (Nature Park representative, Community Weißbach).

The start of the speeches was made by Mag. Otto Leiner (Tyrolean Government) and MBA Petra Priglinger (Tyrol Advertisement). They introduced the model of the Tyrolean protective area care and the cooperation of four Tyrolean Nature Parks and the National Park Hohe Tauern with tourism in a consortium. Mag. Bernhard Stejskal (ARGE Naturpark.Erlebnis.Steiermark) talked about the cooperation between Nature Parks and tourism in Styria. There a consortium from Nature Parks and tourism organisations was founded.

In Carinthia the Nature Parks are integrated into the regional management. Christian Kayser (Nature Park Our, Luxembourg) has given an review of the organisation of the Nature Parks in Luxembourg, which act as an instrument for the regional development.

The South Tyrolean Nature Parks were introduced by Dr. Artur Kammerer (Nature Parks Office, South Tirol). Dipl. biologist Ulrich Köster (Association of German Nature Parks) presented representative examples of the Nature Park management in Germany. The Slovenian principle of management plans for Nature Parks was presented by DI Stanka Dešnik (Nature Park Goričko, Slovenia). Dr. Ueli Stalder (Office for Municipalities and Regional Planning Canton Bern, Switzerland) gave insight into the developing model of the Swiss Nature Parks. Finally DI Gerhard Schlögl (IBS Landschaftsplanung, Regionalentwicklung) gave an overview about the varied factors of a successful and long-term Nature Park work supported by representative examples.

After the speeches discussions and interrogative rounds with the referees took place. They were also continued in the breaks and after the convention.
