1st International Convention of Nature Park Mayors
On the 3rd of October the Nature Park Raab-Örség-Goričko and the Association of Austrian Nature Parks organized the “1st International Convention of Nature Park Mayors” in Mühlgraben.
Speakers from the Austrian and Hungarian Nature Parks presented projects from their regions and illustrated the profit a community gains from the partnership with a Nature Park. Experiences and informations from the mayors were exchanged and remarkable stories of success from the Nature Parks were presented.
Mayor Johann Weiglhofer (Nature Park Pöllauer Tal) talked about the profit the community Pöllauberg gains from the Nature Park. Vice-Mayor Béla Básty from the Nature Park Irottkö in Hungary informed the participants about the experiences in his country. DI Thomas Böhm (ARGE Naturparke, Burgenland) presented a study about the effects on the regional economy, which were elevated in the year 2008. Vice-president and Mayor Johann Thauerböck (Nature Park Mühlviertel) reported about the interaction of Nature Parks and regional development.
In the afternoon an ORF-production about the Nature Park Raab-Örség-Goričko was presented. At the end of the day the participants met in the fruit-paradise in Neuhaus/Klausenbach for a “Kesselgulasch”, an Austrian-Hungarian speciality.
